Moving on from the last blog on what energy is and how it affects us in our day to day lives, we begin our journey into the different levels of energy within us. This week we look at our foundation. Without a strong foundation everything else becomes a bit shaky. Comprised here are the things that are needed to simply survive. Base energy is the earthiest of all the energies, it is what roots us, it is what connects us to our tribe, it is about the physicalities of life, because of this nothing can manifest itself in your world without first passing through the base.
Base Centre Issues
Do you feel secure in your surroundings? Do you feel good about yourself racially and/ or culturally? Do you treat your body well, eating the foods that energise and uplift you physically? Do you feel good about where you live? Are you connected to your community? Are you able to support yourself financially? All these questions relate to base centre issues.
Too Much Base

Imagine walking into a room that has been shut for a long time without any fresh air going through it, the windows and doors have been locked tightly, the curtains have been drawn and there has not been any natural light. The feeling you would get on entering that room is a perfect description of what too much base feels like. It is heavy and oppressive. The energy though large in quantity is stagnant and lifeless.
When an excessive amount of base energy is applied to your life, your survival instincts go into overdrive you have to be in control of your physical environment and nothing is ever enough. The physical is all you can see, be it your body, your race/ culture, material possessions or food. Your mind is closed to anything outside of these defined physical categories.
Too Little Base
Ironically when there is not enough base energy in your life the physical is all you see, but for very different reasons. In this case you are living from pay cheque to pay cheque, never quite sure if the bills can be paid or if there will be enough left over for food and clothes. Without a stable foundation you are constantly focusing on how you will survive. Your main driving force is lack. Unless you can find a way to root yourself and rise above the survival level, no matter how much you would like to succeed in your life, your energy will continuously be pulled back to fulfilling your basic requirements.
Base and the Body
The Base centre is located at the perineum which is the area between the anus and genitals. It includes the entire area between the tail of the spine and the soles of the feet.
Balancing the Base

- Take the time to know your body and how best to care for yourself nutritionally. This takes a certain amount of research to understand the foods you react well to and the foods best avoided.
- Take time to ensure that your home and community offer you comfort and security. If the place you call home does not feel good to you, then a change has to be made.
- Pay attention to your finances. If your current job does not offer you enough to survive comfortably, look at what you will have to do in order to change this situation. Do you need more training? Do you need a career change? Do you need to diversify so that you are not dependant on one avenue to supply your income?
- Use your energy constructively to maintain and expand your base centre, but do this only as part of a bigger picture. With a healthy Base centre you know you are not your home, your body, your car or your money. But you also understand that these are tools at your disposal which are there to aid and abet you in achieving your ambitions and goals.
